COMESA adopting Prospect for ASCENT program

The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) adopted Prospect as its digital monitoring, reporting and verification (dMRV) platform for the World Bank-funded Accelerating Sustainable and Clean Energy Access Transformation (ASCENT) program.

ASCENT, a pioneering USD 5 billion initiative, aims to reach 100 million people with clean energy across over 20 African countries by 2030. As the programs’ regional dMRV platform, Prospect consolidates data across project countries and phases and tracks progress in real time.

The COMESA ASCENT dMRV platform is specially tailored for the program, providing key features such as tracking technology adoption, benchmarking regional performance, and visualizing key indicators through intuitive dashboards.
It seamlessly integrates with national platforms and other data sources to monitor progress according to the result frameworks outlined in ASCENT financing agreements, offers clear visualizations of financial flows, and quantifies carbon emission reductions.

Tailored for various user roles, the platform supports differentiated access levels and scalable adoption – from basic dashboards to a wide range of program-specific views. The dMRV platform’s country dashboards deliver real-time data on electrification progress and results tracking and ensure transparency through independent verification.

During ASCENT Week 2025 in Lusaka, representatives from 20+ COMESA countries, The World Bank, and the energy sector discussed the implementation of the ASCENT program. We were pleased to conduct a training for ASCENT countries, guiding them on digitally reporting their progress within the program. Stakeholders from Burundi, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Tanzania, and Zambia were trained on managing their countries’ customized reporting dashboards.

We are excited to digitally support this region-wide project, promoting transparency, data-driven decisions and collaboration among governments and financiers to bring clean energy to millions of households and businesses.
