Celebrating GGF’s first anniversary

This week marks a great milestone: GGF’s first anniversary!

Over the past year, A2EI spin-off GGF has made great strides in supporting solar energy distributors to advance the offgrid sector in sub-Saharan Africa. As a not-for-profit, GGF focuses on reducing financial barriers for high-performing solar distributors by providing vital inventory financing. Their innovative financing model combines data-driven, sector-specific due diligence with flexible payment terms. This empowers local businesses to acquire stock to boost their sales and grow sustainably, while mitigating carbon emissions.

In just one year, GGF has facilitated ten investments across six countries, supporting companies like Chromevoltech in Nigeria, NalaPayGo in Lesotho, SunGate Solar Ltd in SouthSudan, Oolu Solar in Burkina Faso, and Vitalite in Malawi. By establishing a strong foundation for results-based inventory financing, GGF has have ensured continuous supply for high-performing distributors and demonstrated the success and scalability of the GGF model.

Looking ahead, GGF is excited to further scale its impact, and the A2EI team is happy to support their quest! Thanks to major commitments from ZE-Gen and the IKEA Foundation, GGF has a solid base to expand their reach. It is now raising funds for the next phase of GGF to support a growing number of distributors across Africa to strengthen the entire solar sector – while benefiting local communities.

Cheers to many more years of scaling results-based inventory financing – thus advancing access to clean, affordable energy for all!
